The starfighter had it's operational debut in the war in Vietnam. It showed sensational performance in climb rate and speed and set some worldrecords in this time. The F-104 G is the german version. More then 900 units were ordered. There was a vital discussion about the sense of these jets, because by the time of decommission in 1991, 292 jets have crashed, killing 108 pilots. A real evil weapon. For both sides....
